When I first began my yoga journey in 2011, it was all about the physical and mental benefits. Over time this connection has become so much more than that for me, it's brought an entirely new meaning to life!
After 5 years of dedicated personal practice and growth I knew it was time to share this way of connecting with others. This led me on the path towards completing my intensive 200hr teacher training in Suryalila Retreat Centre Spain through FLY (Frog Lotus Yoga) International's rigorous program in January 2016. Here we learned about creative flows, with the founder's emphasis on alignment. This focus made it enjoyable at any level and a safe practice to promote physical health through mindful movement. Vidya Jacqueline Heisel the founder has studied many styles including Iyengar Ashtanga Forrest Kundalini Yoga, all of which she shared with us, and I now share with you!
Continuing my journey, I trained in Kids and Family Yoga, followed by Yin Yoga training, Meditation training, 300hr Yoga Training, Restorative Yoga, Chair Yoga, Yoga for Menopause and Yoga for Bone Health. I have also most recently trained in Sound Healing Therapy, and throughly enjoy continuing my studies, both for my own personal journey and to be able to share more with you.
In my classes, I teach from the heart and encourage students to listen closely to their own bodies. Students are given space in a safe environment where they can learn how to move at a pace that works best for them regardless of skill, level or ability. I teach chair yoga in various nursing homes and this has opened my eyes to the uniqueness of my teaching style, which is a combination of holistic and tradition. No matter what age, restrictions, or physical ability this practice can bring about many benefits, including ease to muscular aches and pain, joint mobility, strength development, mental clarity, and lots of laughs added in along the way.
These days, my focus in yoga teaching, along with alignment, is a focus on the deeper aspects of physical yoga for various age groups, and specific conditions, for example, Yoga for Bone Health. One of my students in this class with Osteopenia has now improved her spinal posture. In the Yoga for Menopause we work on, and with, the changes our bodies go through at this stage of life.
I am a qualified holistic therapist which combined with the style of yoga I share is a great complimentary companion. Some of the therapies I offer are: Reflexology, Reflexology for Menopause, Facial Reflexology, Indian Head Massage, and Integrated Energy Therapy at Master-Instructor level. I offer One on One Sound Healing which is a wonderful energetic experience. I am also a nail technician and a list of these services you can find on this website.
I offer these yoga classes in-studio and online. Both the in-studio yoga classes and therapies are in my own purpose-built Yoga Studio and Therapy Room, called, Baskin Hub.
